Kale Langlas Oral History Archive

The archive contains 203 interviews with 78 individuals (or small groups of individuals). The interviews were carried out by Charles “Kale” Langlas or his students between 1987 and 2010 for the purpose of documenting the history of various areas. Most of the people interviewed were elderly and have since passed on. The bulk of the interviews are in English; some are in Hawaiian. In nearly all cases, an audio file is available in MP4 format and a transcript of the interview in PDF format. All of the interviews have been released by the interviewee. Occasionally, the interviewee requested that a compilation be made from his/her interviews and released the compilation rather than the original interviews.
